Road Trip

The effect of the colors was achieved by glazing. Several painting techniques were used to come up with the texture. Some portions of the piece have a thicker paint application (impasto) to give it physical texture. To add depth and atmosphere I scumbled one color over another, and I concentrated on complementary hues. Sgraffito or, in this case, scratching some areas with a palette knife to reveal the bottom layer was done to come up with outlines that could suggest something to the viewer. I usually work with palette knives, different kinds of brushes, as well as my fingers -- definitely a harmonious team! haha.. right.

"Road Trip"

A lot of things can happen during road trips, some good and some bad. There are several stops with interesting places to see, and you get to experience different kinds of weather conditions, sometimes.

This piece is all about variation, AND having fun. Just let it flow and discover along the way.
